I long to bask in the glory of the millenium clock and drink at your local tavern- Mavericks. If only us fish lovers were as good as you. All hail Driffield. Very informative and interesting, allows me to keep up with all the riveting news thats going on there. Like every one else writes puts Driffield on the map. However only one bad thing to say, the sports section although very well documented with football and rugby games and results isn't very varied. Could do with following more sports such as the local swimming team, not that i'm biased. One last thing to say, hello mum and dad i'll write home as soon as i've recieved your letter. Darren Walker <d.walker@stud.umist.ac.uk> Manchester, England - Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at 17:50:03 (EST) It's great to see Driffield getting itself on the map, the number of people who don't know where it is, is ridiculous. Oh nice piccy in the Paper Ziggy! Catch you later, keep up the good work, and keep on partying drifield Matt Matthew Sawdon <matthew.sawdon@farming.co.uk Duggleby, England - Saturday, March 11, 2000 at 15:55:19 (EST) Wonderful Site. Driffield. Mucking Dick Lane. School Dinners (1970s before you got a choice). RAF Driffield. King's Mill on a Summer's Day. That Sweet Shop where I bought my last bar of Milk Tray (Yes, they did come in bars, once). Being late for school - nearly every day. Mr Camish, my teacher. Ian Bowes. Mark Grant from Watton. Tony Clayton who later joined the Royal Marines (I think?). Woldholme Avenue. TC. Dad's Morris 1100 painted in Gold Hammerite paint. That smell of polished floors at school that lingers in the mind. Being told off at school for the first time. My first game of football - ever. Mr Bradshaw (PE Teacher). Signing-On day (Monday). Cashing Giro (Wednesday). Buying Sandwiches at Driffield Home Bakery. That first school's visit to Shepcotes. Sokells. ATC. RAF Driffield. I guess everything starts and ends with RAF Driffield. The above are a few memories of Driffield. We arrived in 1973 to RAF Driffield. I was only eight - dragged Up North by dad, who had been posted to RAF Staxton Wold. RAF Driffield was and in my heart is still my home. I hear it's been sold to some property developer, who will no doubt pull it down. Me? I'd restore the site and install a museum and sheltered housing scheme for ex-servicemen. The place means so much, and yet I am so helpless to act. I left Driffield in 1987 for Bridlington. For the eight or nine years that I lived in this seaside town, I only walked on the beach once and every week I would buy the Driffield Times, then Post to look at the houses on sale in Driffield, even though I couldn't afford to buy. I hated Bridlington - every sodding minute of it. But, Driffield.... My only complaint about the town is the way its been run down, by everyone both large and small. Be it the local railways, who have over the years transformed the station into nothing more that a public toilet. The last time I was in Driffield the old entrance smelled of Urine. Me thinks me has already written too much. I have but one dream - to either buy RAF Driffield or to piss on the grave of the person who demolishes it. This bodily function will be performed at the dead of night, alone - this after the bugger has died and not before -I hasted to add. I may have to wait another sixty years, but it will be worth it! Regards Phillip Rhodes Formally of 18 Woldholme Avenue and 211 AMQ RAF Driffield. Phillip Rhodes <rafdm@mailexcite.com> Hull, England (last time I checked) - Thursday, March 09, 2000 at 19:47:09 (EST) With regards to the alcatraz website - aaaah, to be young and immature again. Those were the days........ Shame such idiots should appear on this website which, apart from this anomoly, displays all the best bits about Driffield (not least the People!) DaveH <daftlad_dave@yahoo.co.uk> Manchester, England - Tuesday, March 07, 2000 at 16:23:54 (EST) Hi everyone. Just thought i would take a look at the website, its pretty good. Fiona <Cliogirl99@aol.com> Hutton, Uk. - Tuesday, March 07, 2000 at 12:12:06 (EST) Spread the word and put the GREAT back into DRIFFIELD - Lets get some major companies back into the Driffield area. To the council - get your thinking hats on and come up with the goods. Can we please get the clock going and hang the expence. Old on a minute.... Why don't we hang the person responsible for the passing of the whole damn thing and not save the expence. A man walks into the doctors with a lettuce leaf sticking out of his bottom! Doctor "That looks mighty painful?" Patient"It is that doctor, but that's only the tip of the iceberg" The following week the same patient is back. This time he has a couple of lettuce leaves, sliced tomato, diced cucumber, chopped spring onions and water cress popping out between his bottom cheeks. The doctor looks at it and then says "Yes you certainly needs a dressing on that!"
