As Town Mayor, I welcome you to Driffield, Capital of the Wolds, and to the beautiful surrounding Wolds Countryside.

Driffield is a typical East Yorkshire market town where strangers are made to feel most welcome by the local shop keepers and towns folk and this welcome extends to the residents of the surrounding Wolds villages.

It is a staging post from north to south and still retains this unique position whilst also being the centre point between York, Hull and Scarborough. It is an ideal centre from which to visit the Yorkshire Coast, Wolds, historic areas and stately houses and even the North Yorkshire Moors.

Driffield has a full annual programme of events and hosts the largest one day agricultural show in the Country as well as many other events such as two day steam traction engine rally. If you are here at the New Year make sure you see the traditional "Scrambling" through the streets of Driffield!

A feature of the town is Riverhead with its ancient warehouses at the top of the navigation system linking with Beverley and Hull and it is our aim to fully restore this inland waterway thus forging links with the rest of the Country's inland waterway system.

The surrounding Wolds with its attractive East Yorkshire villages has much to offer such Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall, Cruckley Farm for the children, Wharram Percy deserted village and many fabulous walks throughout the Wolds including the National Trail the Wolds Way and the Minster Way linking Beverley and York Minsters.
