As we
approach Thixendale over a hilltop the pretty little Village comes
into view sitting in a dale bottom, the pointed roof tops and roof
tiles seeming to rise up the dale side. There are a large number
of new properties that have been built all keeping very tastefully
to the characteristics of this quaint Wolds Village.
There
is a Village shop as well as Thixendale stores which offers an off
license and a café to cater for the many walkers that come
through the village.
There is a small Church and
Vicarage along the dale side and "Round The Bend" offers
self catering accommodation. Cricket and rounders is still played
on the Village cricket field situated conveniently near to The
Cross Keys Public Houses.
The former School house which
was once a Youth Hostel has recently been adapted in to a Village
Hall,
With sheep grazing on the dale side and a serene
peace in and around the Village, Thixendale really is the perfect
country retreat.
